For those of you who don’t know the origins of Halloween, here is this short video of its roots, by National Geographic. Let’s take advantage of the Halloween mood.
Halloween 2019
Although I come from a country in which celebrating Halloween is not a tradition, ever since I move to the U.S. I’ve adopted the tradition of trick or treating on Halloween night. My family and I try to avoid the dark side of this celebration, so instead of dressing up with evil scary customs we wear character or animal customs. My first year celebrating Halloween I worn a sexy football player custom , for example.

On my second Halloween, I was a kitten. I basically combined some gears with dark clothes and boots.

But guess what… now I am a mother. Now my main focus in this eve is my son. I don’t get really dressed up, instead I make sure he has a custom. On his first halloween he was a teddy bear and I was witch.

This year I was super mommy. I only worn a mask, but my son was super man (or super Jeanmarc, as he calls himself sometimes). I really enjoyed taking him out with my cousin and her kids. He would say every single person “I am superman” and he wanted to pet every animal he found on the road. We went walking around my condo and we got a lot of candies, which I’ll use to fill out a piñata for my son’s birthday party.

Contatinho
This is Leo Santana and Anitta’s new song. They are renown singers from Brazil who united for this song which have been very accepted in Brazil. Leo Santana is one of my favorite Brazilian singers. I hope you enjoy it.
Aruba Beach Cafe Far from Aruban Style
Aruba Beach Cafe should change its name to Fort Lauderdale Beach Cafe.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was very curious about this place I had found called Aruba Beach Cafe, located in Lauderdale by the sea. I went there for my birthday with my family and to be honest I am a little disappointment.
The prices are a little higher than average. I assume it is because it is a place that sells mostly sea food. I ended up eating a chicken quesadilla to play safe. I would have loved if there menu had had some visuals. I know they have some good things because when I went to the ladies room I couldn’t stop staring at other people’s plates, they look so yummy. I wish I knew which they where in the menu.
Another thing I dislike is that none of the dishes and drinks with Aruban food names had any similarity with “happy island’s” real food. My husband was about to order an “Aruba Ariba” drink, but the waiter said it is not the same and he didn’t order it. Apart from this, there food was good. My brothers ordered hamburger for the same reason and they liked it a lot.
The environment overall was good. Mostly white people is seen there. The do have live music, I heard some reggae and country music playing. My favorite part was the view. You have a wide and clear view of the beach from most parts of the restaurant. After you eat you have the beach right there. It was really clean. very nice beach. Not very crowded for a Sunday in the afternoon. Parking also was smooth. You can either park on the street and use the pay by parking app or pay valet parking, which I saw that was like $5 the cheapest.
Here are some of the pictures I took.

One Happy Restaurant
Aruba’s ambient has come to Florida
While doing some research for one of my classes, I found a place really interesting. By now, you all most know that Aruba is my second land. I love its culture, mainly the food, to be honest. Reason why I gained around twenty pounds during my short stay there. Going back to the interesting place I found, this is a restaurant on the beach called “Aruba Beach Café.” It is located in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. As soon as I saw this, I sent a screen shot of the place to my husband, who grew up in Aruba, and he even thought it was there. Surfing through its website, I noticed that even some of the dishes offered are named after certain Aruban foods. My husband and I are anxious to go there and discover if our dream of having an Aruban place close to home have come true.
I checked some of the reviews, out of the thousands it has, and most people have left positive comments. They mention the good customer service they receive during every visit, the reasonable prices and the good environment. Some people also mention that this is a good place for a date since the ocean view from almost every where you seat renders the perfect ambient. If you want to dance or have fun drinking a couple of beers with some friends, this is the place for that as well.
I will be going very soon to celebrate my birthday there and I will be leaving some comments of my own experience. For now, I will share some of the pictures I found on its website, so you can get an idea.

Amber Cove

Maybe this is the first time that you’re hearing about Amber Cove. Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean that you are disconnected from the world, it is just that this place is a new cruise port. Amber Cove is located in the Dominican Republic; yes, you read well, I said Dom. Rep. This is a quiet little spot packed with bars and pools, located in Puerto Plata specifically.

I am Dominican and I heard about this place for the first time from my husband. He arranged a cruise for us and when he started to mention the places where we would stop … he goes like “Amber Cove and such and such.” My reaction was to ask him where Amber Cove was located, and then he goes like “seriously?” Then I asked what was wrong, so he told me to Google it. Under any circumstance do I believe that I most know it all, that’s not me, however; when I realized it was in D.R. I felt super ashamed.

As I previously mentioned, this is a new cruise port that belongs to Carnival cruise. I can tell you that lots of people living in the island haven’t discovered this Dominican-style paradise, as described in Carnivals’ website, yet.

I will definitely have a better gasp of what it really is when I go there, but based on some research I have conducted, this seems to be a very nice place, in which you’ll have the opportunity of engaging in activities such as swimming with the dolphins and sharks at Ocean World, interesting excursions, tours around the backcountry, etc. Besides, this place is located in a beautiful city, full of history and interesting places to visit. In Puerto Plata, you will also find a “teleferico” as known in Spanish, or Cableway, which tender a beautiful view.
Whale Watching
This video is to give you a better gasp of my experience with the humpback whales in Samana.
Humpback Whale in the Dominican Republic
Did you know that thousands of humpback whales travel to the Dominican Republic every year to give birth and mate?

Every year, between January and March, Samana city, specifically, welcomes thousands of humpback whales that come to reproduce in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The city has created what is known as the “sanctuary of the humpback whale.” They come from the seas of Iceland, Greenland, Canada, and North America, escaping from the high temperature of the area.
Whales come to give birth their little ones because the whalebone, when born, has a very thin layer of fat to withstand the cold waters. In Samana these giant mammals are protected by several regulations the pertinent authorities have implemented to keep them safe during their visit.
I had the privilege of personally experience their show. Many years ago I went in tour to the humpback whale sanctuary which is located in Samana Bay. It is amazing seeing the synchronization of their jumps. It gives you the impression that they have been trained for that performance.
These pictures are some of the few I was able to take during my visit to see the humpback whales.
